My classroom is directly across from the first grade classrooms. As a Special Education teacher, one of my primary responsibilities is to work directly with students who have Individual Education Plans (I.E.P.'s) for academic and social/emotional goals. I also work with students who need additional help and have not been identified as students with Special Education needs.
Together, we can work in small groups or in 1-on-1 settings in either the regular education classroom or in my classroom. This will depend on the needs of the students, the curriculum, and the setting. For students with I.E.P.'s, I will send home quarterly progress reports based on your child's progress with their Special Education goals.
A multi-sensory approach and a variety of manipulatives are used to teach skills to students in the primary grades (Pre-Kindergarten-Grade 2). It is my goal to make learning fun for all students. The more students are engaged in learning, the better they will comprehend the skill! |
