| Homework Information: |
This is not the most popular topic amoung students. However, it is truely valuable. Homework reinforces skills previously taught in class. Daily review of materials and skills covered in class helps your child retain important information necessary for their academic growth. Thank you in advance for your support and efforts with helping your child become a responsible citizen in and out of school!
Things to Keep in Mind!
1. Homework should take no more than one hour to complete (all subjects combined). Within this amount of time, your child should read for fifteen minutes. It would be wonderful if your child used this time to review the story vocabulary or reread the Reading selection for the week.
2. Daily assignments should be written by your child in their daily planner.
3. Please be sure to review your child's planner each night. This shows your child that being responsible and completing homework is important to you too.
What will happen if your child chooses not to complete homework?
If students CHOOSE not to complete assignments, they will be given two choices. One, they may complete it during recess. Two, they may take a zero. Should they choose to complete the assignment during recess, once finished, they may play. If students consistently CHOOSE not to complete their homework, they will lose certain privledges. Please keep in mind, incomplete assignments will recieve a grade of zero. They may not be made up at a later date. Furthermore, CONSISTENT lack of responsibility will reflect in their academic performance and quarterly grades.
If there is a legitimate reason why your child is not able to finish homework, please send a note on the day the homework is due stating the reason why it was not completed. Not having the necessary supplies or textbooks to complete assignments is not an acceptable excuse. PLEASE help your child be RESPONSIBLE for his or her actions. |
