The AT program is a program to help students become engaged in the classroom and learn not only how to do math, but more importantly to understand the reasoning behind the answers they receive when they solve problems. Video clips on daily lessons, lesson notes, and daily homework assignments are available on the website www.algebraicthinking.com.

Expectations: Students are expected to come to class everyday ready to work and learn. They should have with them at every class sharpened pencils, paper/notebooks to take notes in, a red pen for correcting work, and all text/workbooks. After entering the classroom, students should immediately begin working on their drill. Because behavior is so closely linked with the quality of learning, I am expecting that all students in my class act responsible and respectful.
Homework/Grading: Homework will be given at least 4 times a week. Homework will be checked everyday for completion. Homework will make up 15% of your child’s grade. In addition to the homework grade, your child’s final math grade will be calculated as follows: 50% for class work (which will include quizzes) and 35% for Chapter Tests.
Attendance: Attendance is very important to your child’s learning and to our school. I hope to see your child each and every day on time and ready to learn. If however your child is absent, they must see me for any makeup work and that work must be turned in within the agreed upon time set based on the amount of days they were absent in order to receive full credit.
Make-up/ Missing Work: Should a student fail to complete a homework assignment, they may turn it in within 2 weeks form the date it was assigned for 50 %. Students must turn in missing work within 2 weeks of the due date to receive ANY credit.
