Welcome to Mrs. Pavlas' Home on the Web!
I believe that my role as a teacher is to encourage students to learn, explore, and reach their full potential and goals. As an educator, I motivate, challenge and encourage my students to explore, take risks, share ideas, acquire knowledge and be the best they can be. I want them to become independent thinkers. I want them to be proud of their accomplishments and of what they have learned. I wish to help motivate students to do their best and to extend their own personal limits.

I believe in providing a positive, nurturing, safe classroom environment where students can grow, not only academically, but socially as well, to fulfill their true potential. I believe this can be accomplished through the use of hands-on/minds-on activities, cooperative learning, an integrated curriculum, and the use of technology. Students need to experience meaningful, interesting learning that applies to their lives. In my classroom, students must commit to a level of performance that challenges them to reach their full potential. My expectations of my students are high and by the end of the year, they realize they can achieve any goal set before them. I am constantly searching for new ideas and innovative teaching strategies, which actively engage each of my students in learning and motivate them to become lifelong learners.

Good teaching demands a lot of caring, patience, kindness, and time! These four attributes, combined with consistency and parent involvement, create a successful learning environment.

ABOUT ME...
I graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2001with a BS in Economics. In 2007, I received a Master of Science degree in Education from Johns Hopkins University. I am thrilled to join the faculty at Perry Hall Middle School and I am very much looking forward to getting to know my students and their families.

Personally, my husband, Lee and I live have lived in Perry Hall for the last 6 years. We are originally from Massachusetts and are huge Patriots and Red Sox fans! I love to spend my free time with my three yellow Labrador Retrievers, Sydney, Sierra & Savannah.
