Mrs. Groth is very happy to have some very capable library helpers (pictured above) and she could not run the library without them. They help put the books back in order on the shelves, collect the books from the classrooms in the morning and check them into the system.

Black Eye Susan News: The favorite BES picture book chosen by CVE was John, Paul, George and Ben. The favorite novel chosen by the BES Club was Revenge of the Witch. The participating students in Maryland schools chose the following as winners: Picture Book -- The Great Fuzzy Frenzy and the novel -- Revenge of the Witch. Remember that all the BES winners and nominees are wonderful books. Check one out!
LOST OR DAMAGED LIBRARY BOOKS: To replace books in the library we must adhere to the guidelines of the BCPS Library Office. These guidelines are based on national standards for school libraries. We do not accept replacement books as books must have library binding. Paperbacks are being phased out as they do not hold up well. If a book is lost you can pay by check and we use the money to purchase books with library binding. The books come with processing (labels and Marc records for the computer software system). Please send an email or call if you have further questions.
To review the process of book selection with your child, watch the animated Choosing Books on Brain Pop Jr. You can access Brain pop by clicking on the link below. Your username when not at school is bcpsjr and the password is brainpop. Click on reading/books/choosing a book. Enjoy doing this with your child and then take the quiz.
Parents who are interested in volunteering in the library, please send an email or stop by when school is in session. Feel free to introduce yourself. A big thank you to all the parents who have already stopped in to help! Any amount of time you can give helps.
ABOUT THE LIBRARIAN: Mrs. Groth was born and raised in Baltimore, went to the Baltimore City Public Schools until eighth grade and then attended Mercy High School. Mrs. Groth holds a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education and a Masters of Education in Reading from Towson University. Mrs. Groth also holds a Certificate of Advanced Study in School Administration from Loyola College and a Masters in Instructional Technology from Towson University. Mrs. Groth was the proud recipient of the Outstanding Educator Award from the White Marsh-Essex-Middle River Chamber of Commerce in 2007. This is Mrs. Groth's 24th year in Baltimore County, and she also worked in the International School of Amsterdam in Holland where she lived for 12 years. Mrs. Groth is fluent in Dutch. She and her family enjoy visiting friends and relatives in the Netherlands as well as camping in the United States in different places. Mrs. Groth is currently working toward National Board Teacher Certification.
