Homework is assigned Monday-Thursday in Math and Reading/Language Arts. For the most part, Math Homework will consist of a worksheet that reinforces the skill that was taught at school that day. There will be occasions when a Math Workbook page is assigned instead. Reading/Language Arts Homework will consist of either a paper booklet for oral reading fluency practice, vocabulary gameboard, or a worksheet. Paper booklets do not need to be returned to school. Please keep them at home for optional oral reading practice. You may want to help your child to decorate a shoebox or gift bag to create a special storage place for all of the paper booklets. Repeated reading of these booklets will provide important oral fluency practice. You can verify that your child has completed this oral reading homework by jotting a brief note on the math homework paper. Beginning September 17th, Reading Homework on Mondays and Tuesdays will be to play a vocabulary game. The gameboard will be stored in a plastic sheet protector in the green homework folder. Please verify your child's completion of this game by initialing the accompanying word list. If for some reason your child's reading/language arts homework is missing from the green folder, please have him/her play this game in place of that worksheet.
