WELCOME TO MY WORLD!

Technology Integration at Pinewood Elementary School

me

Hi, I'm Cathy Cerveny!

During the 2008-2009 school year, I am serving as the technology integration educator at Pinewood Elementary School. This is a full-time position at Pinewood, where I work with the students during their teacher's planning time once each week. In this role, I also serve as an active resource for the teachers and administration on effective ways to use technology in classroom instruction. Having one place to call "home", after spending years split between several schools, is an exciting adventure. This will be my sixth year as a Technology Integration Educator (TIE) in Baltimore County Public Schools. As part of the dynamic Pinewood staff, I have an opportunity to share and learn from an amazing school community!

I am a recently renewed Nationally Board Certified Teacher(NBCT-MCG), 1997 Maryland Teacher of the Year, Lifetime honoree of the PTA, and actively involved in local, state and national organizations dedicated to improving the education we provide students. Currently I am the chair of Maryland's Professional Standards and Teacher Education Board, the group charged with many of the certification regulations in our state. My husband, former technology specialist at Bel Air High School, is now the president of the Harford County Education Association. We have two married children (a son and a daughter) living near Los Angeles, California.

Working to TIE technology into students' lives is exciting. I'm sure that 2008-2009 is going to be a great year at Pinewood Elementary!
