Grades Three through Five

Using Technology Effectively and Efficiently

Students in the intermediate grades grow substantially in their abilities to use the tools of technology to support their learning. Familiarity with the keyboard and software permits these students to create products with greater ease. Along with continued use of Photostory3, Pixie, LOGOPaths, MS Shapes and Kidspiration2, children are found using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel more often. Internet safety guidelines and teacher directed Internet searches are used to help students find appropriate learning resources beyond the walls of their classrooms.

Third graders will use a variety of Internet sites and programs to build greater understanding on the science and math concepts they are learning in their classrooms.

Fourth graders will also use the computer lab tools to extend their science and math learning this year.

Fifth graders will use problem solving strategies to gain greater understanding of math and science concepts covered during their elementary school years.
