| Some of Carroll Manor's Finest! |
2009-2010 Welcome to our fourth grade classroom! The fourth grade teachers work as a united team to teach our students.
Please remember to review and sign your child’s planner on a daily basis. It is suggested that you not sign the planner unless you’re sure your child has actually completed ALL homework assignments. Don’t sign ahead for the next day! I encourage you to look over your child’s homework regularly.

| The 25 Books Reading Program |
| The Carroll Manor School Improvement Plan requires each student to read twenty-five books by the end of the current school year. Teachers have different approaches to the program. In room 8 reading, students self-select titles appropriate for their level, read the books, and then record the necessary information in their Reader's Notebook. Some of the books are ones assigned for instructional reading and are selected by the teacher. Students should aim to read at least six or seven books per term in order to complete the program by year's end. At this point, room 8 reading students should have at least seven titles recorded. If your child's notebook does not indicate this number, please encourage him/her to engage in more independent reading outside the classroom. |
| When the weather changes... |
| ... there is a need to dress more warmly. Since temperatures in the morning and afternoon vary and classroom conditions vary from room to room, I recommend that students go for the layered look. Removing a light sweater or sweatshirt can make a child more comfortable and ready to learn. |
| Students are always in need of supplies such as pencils, looseleaf paper, and marking pens. Please take time to survey your child’s needs and replenish wherever necessary. Thank you! |
