Hello and Welcome to THIRD GRADE!
I am new to Middlesex Elementary this year and am very happy to be here!!
I am especially happy to be teaching 3rd grade because it is my FAVORITE grade to teach!
Since I am new to the school, I will tell you a little bit about me.
I grew up in the Perry Hall area and was educated in the Baltimore County Public School System from kindergarten through 12th grade. After that I attended Towson University and Loyola College.
Before coming to Middlesex, I taught for 12 years in the Baltimore City Public School System.
I completed my Master's Degree in December of 2006 and was hired by Baltimore County Public Schools in the spring of 2007. So far, my first year here has gotten off to a great start and the staff, students, and parents have all been very helpful and supportive. Thank you all!!
This year is a big year for the third graders because they take the MSA (Maryland School Assessment) in the Spring of 2008. This test requires students to respond to basic math and reading questions as well as higher level questions which they must answer in their own words. In order to prepare for the MSA, we will be working on many skills that require the 3rd graders to extend their thinking beyond basic understanding. Please help your child prepare for the test by sending your child to school everyday, making sure homework is completed correctly, and encouraging them to read in their spare time.
It would also be helpful if you had discussions with your child about the books they are reading.
