| Dell Lab 6 |

All students in kindergarten through fifth grade visit the Dell lab weekly for one hour of instructional technology. Instruction in the lab focuses on integrating tehchnology standards with curriculum expectations whenever possible. Students create multimedia products using a variety of software. Students use productivity software to create their projects. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Excel are used throughout the year. Students also use Pixie, Kidspiration, and Inspiration software to achieve technology goals and standards.
We are looking forward to another exceptional year with technology for all Cromwell students. We will use technology to support Maryland Learning Outcomes and the Voluntary State Curriculum everyday and in a variety of ways. Students will learn computer basics, create multimedia presentations, use desktop publishing programs, create web pages, show ethical computer use, create and use databases, and use the Internet to conduct research. Students and teachers will use digital cameras to enhance their projects. Cromwell students will also use digital video cameras to capture and produce movies using Movie Maker. Technology will also be used to reinforce basic skills taught in the classroom. Students will visit the computer lab and media center weekly. Each homeroom still has five Dell computers for student use. Student's and teachers will have access to three full Dell labs to enhance their technology skills.
All students will learn to use the TV studio by participating in student produced morning announcements with their class. Mrs. Lockwood and Mrs. Groth will also work with a group of intermediate students that will be our “video crew”. This crew will caputure events that occur around Cromwell on a daily basis.
We are continuing to use many exciting programs at Cromwell. Fifth grade students will work in small groups with Miss Novotny to gain a basic understanding of robotics using Legos. Mrs. Wright and Ms. Novotny will work with third graders second semester on digital photography.
