Classroom Procedures
Behavior Ladder
A multicolored chart holds a clothes pin for each child. Each color is a step of the ladder. There are 7 steps. Each child begins their day on the 2nd step from the top of the ladder. If a student is not following directions or behaving properly, they are given a verbal reminer to "Stop and Think", and the clip with their name is moved down one color. If inappropriate behavior continues, the clip continues to move down the ladder with increasing consequences. (Time Out in Class, Time Out in Another Class, A Visit to the Thinking Center, A Referral to the Office)

Likewise, if a child has been doing an exceptional job, their clip may be moved UP a color.
Tickets
At the end of the day, tickets are passed out to each student. The number of tickets each student receives is determined by the location of their clip on the ladder at the end of the day.
100's Chart
At the end of the day all students whose clips are still on the top two steps of the ladder are given the chance to write their names in a box of the 100's chart. At the end of the week names are chosen at random to receive a prize.
Marble Jar
Our class has the opportunity to earn marbles for the marble jar each time they receive a compliment. When the jar is full, the class receives a party!
