Hi! My name is Lisa Geary, and I am the speech-language pathologist at Mars Estates Elementary School. This is my sixth year working for Baltimore County Public Schools, and my twelfth year as a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist. Previous experience includes various positions with a private therapy & rehabilitation company, a research associateship for The National Institutes of Health, and individual home-based therapy with private clients. My husband and I have four children -- ages 13, 11, 9, and 3. I stay busy with my family, but in my free time I enjoy movies, swimming, reading and being outdoors.
At Mars Estates, I provide diagnostic assessments and individual/group therapy sessions for students with communication difficulties (articulation, language use & comprehension, fluency, and pragmatic/social skills.) I also work closely with classroom, special area teachers and other service providers (occupational therapist, social worker, resource personnel) to help students overcome their difficulties and find success. Therapy services are delivered in the speech/language room or in the classroom, depending on student need and level of progress. Therapy sessions incorporate curricular content and vocabulary, theme-related activities and fun games to create positive, enjoyable sessions that address students' individual needs. I work full-time at Mars Estates Elementary, and I am proud to be a Mars Star! I look forward to another great school year, and I consider it a privilege to teach the wonderful students at Mars Estates!
