PHYSICAL EDUCATION PROGRAM
My name is Mrs. Leslie Gfrerer. I have taught Physical Education in Baltimore Co. for 33 years, 15 of which have been at Middlesex Elementary. My background also includes 18 years in a special school setting as Perceptual-Motor Specialist and Adapted P.E. Teacher. One of my primary goals is to reach every child - from the physically gifted to the physically challenged--how and why they should keep themselves healthy and fit throughout their lifetime. In my physical education program I provide learning experiences which are developmentally appropriate that will teach children how to be physically active in ways that increase physical competence, self-esteem and joy through lifelong activity. Here is how we achieve that goal:

1) Our P.E. curriculum includes a balance of skills, concepts, and game activities designed to enhance cognitive, motor, affective and fitness development of every child.
2) Throughout the year the program provides experiences that allow the children the opportunity to work together solving physical challenges through cooperation, thus fostering good sportsmanship.
3)Ongoing fitness assessments are used as part of the process of helping children understand, enjoy, and improve/maintain their physical health and well-being.

Please feel free to visit your child's physical education class. By working together to encourage fitness, I am certain we will be able to help your children enjoy a lifetime of physical activity. I welcome your support!
