Practice identifying syllables at the Syllable Factory. Click on the link above to visit this site.

Be on the look out for Open Court Reading Decodables. Your child will bring several of these small books home each month. These books are designed to help students apply the reading strategies that they are taught in class:

- decoding/blending words
- recognizing critical sight words
- developing a level of fluency (effortless ability to read with little attention to decoding)

These stories will gradually become more difficult as the year goes on. Please encourage your child to read these out loud to you.

Field Trip Field Trips
We will be going on three field trips this school year. Our first trip will be to Sharp's Farm on November 5th. The next two trips will be to Goucher College to see the following plays:

Max and Ruby (February 9th)
If You Give a Pig a Pancake (May 4th)
