Welcome to Mrs. Piniecki's Classroom
Every child has a special gift...Some just open their presents a little later than others.
Hello and welcome to a new school year! My name is Nancy Piniecki and I have been teaching at Middlesex now for 17 years. I am a special education and regular education teacher and this year, I am working with prekindergarten students. My classroom is located in the preschool wing. As you enter the front foor of the school, turn right. Go past the office, down the steps, and past the cafeteria. Keep going straight until you come to the end of the hall- I am in room 35. The prekindergarten children will be attending in two sessions--morning--8:45-11:25 AM, and afternoon--12:50-3:25 PM.
We will be starting our school year off by getting to know our new friends and staff and talking about coming to school. We will also be learning about ourselves, making new friends, sharing, taking turns, and following directions. In addition, we will be learning our new routine in a school setting.
In prekindergarten, we will be learning new skills in reading, math, science, and social studies. We will be naming colors, shapes, and numbers, counting, number concepts, and patterning and sequencing skills. We will also learning prereading skills such as letter recognition and letter sounds, rhyming, and a beginning sight word vocabulary. I will be sending homework home on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week. The homework will provide the children with an opportunity to practice new learning and it will also serve to update parents on our weekly activities. I will be sending home many activities for parents to help their children reinforce new learning.
If you need to contact me, you may send a note in your child's folder, call the school at (410) 887-0170 and leave a message-- I will call you back as soon as possible. You may also email me at npiniecki@bcps.org.
We are starting off the school year by going to the pumpkin farm on October 27th. Information has already been sent home about this upcoming trip. We are also planning to to see a play at Goucher College in March and go to the B & O Railroad Museum in April. I'm looking forward to a great school year and working with my new friends and their families!!
