Welcome to Mr. V's School Counseling Website!
Feel free to e-mail me

My name is Ryan Voegtlin and I am the school counselor at Pleasant Plains Elementary School. The students call me Mr. V. This is my third year at Pleasant Plains. I previously worked as a school counselor for three years at Halstead Academy.

As a school counselor I have a variety of roles in the school building. My most important role is to help students in becoming emotionally, behaviorally, and socially prepared for success in the classroom. I do this by working closely with parents, teachers, administrators, and students. I provide four major services that allow me to help students prepare for academic success. These four services are guidance lessons, group counseling, individual counseling, and consultation.

As the school counselor, I teach a variety of classroom lessons throughout the school year. These lessons focus on topics such as solving conflicts, anger management, character education, handling teasing/bullying, drug and alcohol awareness, and career awareness. Topics are selected based on teacher, student, and parent input. These lessons are taught in order to provide students with social skills that will allow them to make positive choices and develop quality friendships.

I also run a number of group counseling experiences throughout the school year. The groups focus on topics such as changing families, anger management, developing friendships, and organizational skills. Students are chosen for groups based on teacher and/or parent recommendation.

I also provide individual counseling services to students. I meet with some students on a more consistent basis than others, depending on the need of that student. I provide individual counseling based on teacher and/or parent recommendation. I usually meet with students for individual counseling to address any number of social, emotional, and/or behavioral concerns.

On a daily basis I consult with teachers, parents, administrators, and/or outside community agencies in order to work together to allow all students to be academically and socially successful.

Please feel free to e-mail me at rvoegtlin@bcps.org or call me at 410-887-3549 if I can be of any assistance to you or your child.
