Western's Research Survival Guide
The following format will be used throughout this academic year. Please be aware of the following guidelines:

Attendance: It is important to attend every class and to be on time. Attendance is required and calculated into your grade. Three unexcused or six excused absences per quarter may result in a failure. In addition, an absence does not excuse you from the work you miss. If you miss a class for any reason, it is YOUR responsibility to find out what you missed from your study partner or other classmate. All assignments are due the day you return. Labs will need to be rescheduled. Take responsibility for your learning. Two hall passes will be granted each semester and will be signed only on YOUR complete success guide.

Assignments: A due date for an assignment is neither flexible nor negotiable. If you do not turn in an assignment on time, you will receive a zero. No excuses. Do not throw away any materials returned to you, they maybe useful for a future assignment or open-notes quiz. All papers and reports must use Parenthetical Citation as stated in Western’s Research Survival Guide All material that is not your own, and is not referenced, will be considered plagiarized and receive a zero.

Classroom Conduct: At all times, you need to be responsible for your safety and the safety of those around you. Also, be respectful of the learning of your fellow classmates. Detention, calls home and office referrals may result from repeated incidents.

Fieldwork: When studies are held outside, either on campus or on fieldtrips, you must maintain appropriate behavior. Additionally, you will need to be prepared, and possess the proper clothing and shoes for outdoor activities.
