Transition Mathematics: A Program for the Mathematically Gifted and Talented is a unique program in Baltimore County. Students are responsible for exploring the following day's lesson the night before for homework, to take notes on the reading and come in the next day ready to discuss the lesson. They are also asked to do questions in "Covering the Reading" from that lesson and to complete questions in "Applying the Mathematics" from the previous lesson to practice those skills. The lesson is then discussed in class with activities to follow to reinforce those skills. This program is rigorous and challenging and wonderful preparation for the upcoming school year. Students should have a scientific calculator for this class available to them at home and in the classroom. |
