Nov 20 - Mods 1, 9, 10 - No reading this weekend. Turn in any missing summaries or power lines. Mods 2, 7/8 - Finish White Fang.

Nov 19 - Mods 1, 9, 10 - Read to page 169. Do summary and power lines. Mods 2, 7/8 - Read chatper 23. Bring in props for rehearsal of skits.

Nov 18 - Mods 1, 9, 10 - Read to page 149. Detailing Mood handout due tomorrow; write summary and find power lines.
Mods 2, 7/8 - Read chapters 21-22. Complete a Venn Diagram comparing Beauty Smith to Gray Beaver.

Nov 17 - Mods 1, 9, 10 - Read to page 120. Find two powerlines and write summary of reading. "Detailing the Mood" handout due Thursday. Mods 2, 7/8 - Read chapters 19-20. Post to online discussion board.

Nov 16 - Mods 1, 9, 10 - Read to page 95. Find two powerlines and write summary of reading. Mods 2, 7/8 - Read chapters 17-18 and finish classwork.

Nov 12 - Mods 1, 9, 10 - Read pages 10-25 of Out of the Dust. Write power lines on post-it notes and write a summary in a chrolological list of the pages you read. The list should be 6-8 points long. Sudy for tomorrow's test. Have book covered or bring to school in a large, ziploc bag.
Mods 2, 7/8 - Read chapter 15. Respond to on-line postings by Fri evening. Project due tomorrow.

Nov 11 - Mods 1, 9, 10 - Study for Friday's test on predicate nouns and predicate adjectives. Finish class work if necessary. Mods 2, 7/8 - Read chapter 14 in White Fang. Project due Friday. Post a response by Friday night to the discussion question #2.

Nov 10 - Mods 1, 9, 10 - Complete 3 predicate noun and predicate adjective handouts. Test on Friday. Study flash cards and handouts.
Mods 2, 7/8 - Read chapters 12-13 in White Fang. Project due on Friday. Post on discussion board this evening.

Nov 9 - Mods 1, 9, 10 - Read "Rescue" and find 15 sentences that have either a predicate noun or predicate adjective. Write the sentences on looseleaf paper and underline the predicate noun or adjective. Then label each. Study lists/flash cards of "be" verbs and other linking verbs. Predicate noun/predicate adjective test on Friday.

Mods 2, 7/8 - Read chapter 11 in White Fang. Be prepared for a "pop" quiz this week on chapter reading. Project due date extended to this Friday, Nov 13.

Nov 5 - Mods 1, 9, 10 - no homework. Mods 2, 7/8 - Read chapter 10. Project due date extended to Nov 13. Have online contract signed. A second posting is not required this week. Beginning the week of Nov 5, students will need to post by Wed and respond by Friday. Each posting should take no longer than minutes.

Oct 26 - Mods 1, 9, 10 - Read "The Lost City of Pompeii" and answer questions. Due on Wed. Mods 2, 7/8 - Answer questions about poem, "The Cremation of Sam McGee." Visual Dictionary project due Nov. 9.

Oct 12 - Mods 1, 9, 10 - Draft or revise workshop pieces. Answer book club questions 3-5. Mods 2, 7/8 - Rewrite homework responses if necessary.

Oct 11 - Mods 1, 9, 10 - Keep writing for at least 20 minutes on workshop pieces. Read article and answer book club questions 1-2. Mods 2, 7/8 - Read introduction about Jack London. Select 4 quotes from the intro pages and write connection statements between London's life and Call of the Wild.

Oct 8 - Mods 1, 9, 10 - Write for 20-30 minutes. Add to your personal narrative or start prewriting a second piece of nonfiction writing - your choice.

Oct.7 - Mods 1, 9, 10 - Finish writing rough draft of personal narrative.
Mods 2, 7/8 - Prepare for socratic seminar tomorrow. Make sure that questions are answered and text support is written for each question.

Sept 11 - Mods 1, 9, 10 - "Re-do option:" You may rewrite answers to "Nice Guy" non fiction article questions. If you were not happy with your group grade, write the answers on looseleaf paper and turn in on Monday to be re-graded.

Mods 2, 7/8 - Read chapter 5 of "The Call of the Wild" and complete 4 dialetical journal entries.

Sept 10 - Mods 1, 9, 10 - Read "Hedgehog Rescue" and answer question on homework chart.
Mod 2 - Read chapter 4 and complete 4 entries in journal. Answer question about morality on "Lessons Learned" handout.
Mod 7/8 - Read chapter 4 and complete 4 entries in dialetical journal.

Sept 9 - Mods 1, 9, 10 - Read "Nice Guy" and answer question on homework chart.
Mods 2, 7/8 - Read chapter 3 in "The Call of the Wild" and complete dialetical journal.

September 8 - Mods 1, 9, 10 - Rewrite answers for Book Club Exit ticket that was returned today. Write new, corrected responses on the back of the handout. Additional points can be earned with rewritten responses.

Mods 2, 7/8 - Finish reading Chapter 2 of The Call of the Wild. Write 4 entries in dialetical journal.

Sept 4 - Mods 1, 9, 10 - none
Mods 2, 7/8 - Finish reading chapter 1 of The Call of the Wild. Write 4 entries in dialetical journal. Have book covered or a plastic ziploc bag by Wednesday, 9/9.

Sept 3 - Mods 1, 9, 10 - Write at least 15 minutes in your notebook. Make sure that you fill 3/4 to 1 full page.

Mods 2, 7/8 - Summary and article about the Klondike due tomorrow.

Sept 2 - Mods 1, 9, 10 - Write for 15 minutes in notebook. You may use a prompt from Monday's homework handout if you need ideas for writing.

Mods 2, 7/8 - Complete the anticipation guide; turn in tomorrow. Also, search the internet for information about the Klondike Gold Rush. Print an article you find. You many also copy information from a book in the library. Write a short summary of the article. Due Friday.

Sept 1 - All classes, interview 3 people at home. Ask, "Why do you think reading is important?" Write your answers in your notebook or on loose-leaf paper. You may include your answer as one of the responses.

August 31 - All classes, write for 15 minutes in a notebook or on paper. Use a journal prompt from the homework handout, if you wish.
