LANGUAGE ARTS HOMEWORK


October
Oct 7 - Read pages 23-20. Complete vocabulary log. Write first diary entry. Students must keep a daily diary for 14 days, writing 3/4-1 page each day, just like Anne Frank.
Students may write about day's events, family, friends, feelings, thoughts, poems, songs - anything they wish. The diary will be checked for completion each day. It will be included as a part of each student's writing portfolio for the quarter.

Oct 6 - Read pages 8-18 of Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl. Complete nightly vocabulary log. Cover book or carry in a ziploc bag.

Note for mod 7/8 - If you did not hand in your revised personal narrative, bring it in by tomorrow, 10/7.

Oct 2 - Finish classwork. Also, complete the "K" and "W" column on your KWL chart about WWII and the Holocaust. Class in library tomorrow to watch a film on the subject to prepare for reading of Anne Frank: Diary of a Young Girl.

All summer reading parent-signatures must be in by tomorrow to receive homework credit.

Sept 25 - mods 1 and 2 - finish pronoun worksheet from class. Study personal pronouns for quiz tomorrow. Mod 7/8, 9, 10 - complete handout entitled, "The Case of the Pronoun Prank."

Sept 23 - No homework

Sept 22 - Read, highlight, answer questions for both sides of pronoun handout.

Sept 18 - Finish classwork, "Turn it off!" editorial

Sept 17 - Work on any missing work and turn in tomorrow. Also, bring in signed letter.

Sept 16 - Continue pre-writing or drafting narrative for up to 20 minutes. Have language arts letter signed and return tomorrow.

Sept 15 - Complete both sides of pronoun handout.

Sept 11 - Complete both sides of noun handout - common and proper nouns and writing clear, strong nouns.

Sept 10 - Complete both sides of noun handout. Read and highlight key ideas on first page.

Sept 8 - Complete RAFTS homework. Do written response on loose-leaf paper. Write a second response for extra credit.

Sept 5 - No new homework this weekend. If story was not completed or any homework is missing, turn in by Monday.

Sept 4 - Complete both sides of verb handout. Read and highlight key ideas on p. 11 and complete written direction on p. 12.

Sept 3 - Finish writing story about "The Secret Truth." Write at least 1 side of a piece of loose-leaf paper. Due tomorrow.

Sept 2 - Read the narrative, "War." Complete the final column in your 6+1 Writing Traits chart.

Aug 25 - Make a collage that shows all the things, people, places, events, or memories that are important to you. Due Wed, Aug 27.
