| Eighth Grade Band |

| Eighth grade band is offered for all eighth grade students who play a band instrument. Seventh grade band is a prerequisite for this course. The eighth grade band gives three evening performances and all students are expected to attend. In addition, the eighth grade band is assessed through the Baltimore County Assessment Festival in the spring. This course is a yearlong commitment. |

| October 29 - Eighth Grade Field Trip – US Navy Band Concert |
|
Each fall the eighth grade band and orchestra attend a free concert given by the United States Navy Band. Formed in 1925, the US Navy band is made up of some of our Nation’s finest musicians.
The cost of the trip covers the transportation to and from the concert. Students will need to bring money for lunch and will return to school before the conclusion of the school day. Students are expected to wear nice clothing and display proper concert etiquette.
Chaperones will be needed for this trip.

| November 9 – Eighth Grade Pep Band Night |
|
The HMS Eighth Grade Band will join the HHS Pep Band. The Pep Band sits in the center bleachers for all the home football games. The Pep Band plays music at the timeouts and between quarters to pump up the home crowd. This optional performance is a wonderful opportunity for the students to work with the HHS band students and music department. For this event you will need:
-Your Instrument
-A Lyre for Your Instrument
-HHS Colored Clothing (Dress for the Weather)

This concert will be held at HHS.
•6:00 p.m. Warm-up, 6:30 - 7:15 p.m. Concert – 6th Blue Band, 8th Band, Steel Band
•7:45 p.m. Warm-up, 8:15 - 9:00 p.m. Concert – 6th Silver Band, 7th Band, Jazz Band

| March 14 – Eighth Grade Band Assessment |

Eighth Grade band students will participate in Baltimore County’s Band Assessment Program.
