Maryland Creative Problem Solvers
Destination Imagination made a home at Pikesville Middle School during the 2004-2005 school year. One team of six students from 6th and 8th grade challenged themselves to design a bridge that they took to their regional competition in March. They had limits on the materials they could use (wood, glue and fishing line), the dimensions of their bridge and the time allowed to present and test their product. After months of trial and error, the group known as Einstein’s Children presented bridge and accompanying skit to the judges. After much nail biting, the team discovered they won first place and had the chance to compete in the State Competition. Unfortunately due to timing problems and the need to build a new bridge, the team bowed out of the State Competition in hopes to use their experience and focus on the competitions in the 2005-2006 school year.

Congratulations are due this band of problem-solvers; so if you see them around, offer them a pat on the back!

Pikesville Middle School will begin organizing a team or teams of eager problems solvers for the 2005-2006 school year in September or October. If you are interested in becoming a member, please contact Mrs. Kenton at the beginning of the school year and listen for the school announcements for additional information.
