Useful Materials for Every
Budding Scientist

The following materials should be
available for your students to use at home: A metric ruler to use at home,
a dictionary to use at home to
look up vocabulary words, a storage area at home to
maintain current and past files of resource material, a calculator to help with
difficult volume and density calculations, an adequate supply of pens,
pencils, notebook paper, erasers, etc, and a zest for learning in a hands-on
environment

Remember: If your student
comes prepared to learn, then the battle is half won from the beginning.

How to Organize Like a Scientist

Students in Mrs. Kenton's science class will
have an in-class folder which will be used as a science journal and folder in
which to keep current class work, such as the current week's drills and current
lab packet. All other science materials, such as homework, returned class
work, corrected assessments and additional science resources should be kept in
the student's science binder or the science section of either their morning or
afternoon binder which ever is the time of the day in which they attend science
class.

It is recommended that the science section of
a student's science binder, or science section of their binder, include a
section for class work and a section for returned assignments (resources). As papers
are returned to the student, they should be placed in the correct section in
chronological order. All papers should be kept until the unit of study
is completed, at which time the student should store said materials at home for
future reference.
