Welcome to Mrs. K's Science Class!

Mrs. Kouyoumjian's Grade 7 Science
Welcome to the exciting world of science! This page is meant to provide information for students and their parents/guardians regarding 7th grade science. Please use this website as a resource for your science needs. This website will be updated regulary to keep you informed.

Have fun and take care!

The GT & General Classwork, Homework, & Special Projects tabs will be down for maintenance over summer break.

Frequently I am asked for study strategies. While every student is different, here are a few that have worked:

1. Make flash cards of important scientists’ names/dates/contributions.

2. Make flash cards with vocabulary words on 1 side and their definition on the other.

3. Review notes, especially graphic organizers and exit ticket questions. Try to paraphrase new information.

4. Create concept webs (or other graphic organizers, like a sequence chain or Venn diagram) to link ideas together.

5. Have the students quiz themselves, or have person quiz them (the pre-assessment they have at the beginning of the unit is good for this).

6. Try explaining the information to someone else as if they were teaching an elementary school student. They need to understand it to explain it.

7. Color code notes to link like content.

8. Most students need to interact with the notes more than just reading them. They need to some way visualize the information. Sometimes simply re-writing it works.

Have a GREAT SUMMER!
