Indicators: Indicators are like mini-units. Each indicator usually takes about 1-2 weeks (occasionally a little more time depending on the weekly schedule) A. Interpret and construct maps to locate places, cultural features, and natural features of South Asia in order to compare the region of South Asia to previously studied areas. B. Analyze the natural features and climate of South Asia in order to evaluate the ways people modify and adapt to their environment to meet economic wants and how this affects their quality of life. C. Identify the beliefs and practices of Hinduism and Islam in order to draw conclusions about the role of religion in Indian society. D. Examine traditional social and cultural practices such as arranged marriages, joint families, Indian arts, and Indian literature in order to analyze how these practices are used to meet common human needs. E. Examine efforts of 20th-century Indian leaders such as Mohandas Gandhi and Nehru to promote civic improvement and modernization in order to analyze their impact on traditional Indian practices. F. Identify the types of goods and services traded between South Asia and other parts of the world in order to describe examples of economic interdependency among world communities.
