I was born in Cienfuegos, Cuba and emigrated to Miami, Florida at the age four.I went to high school at Academy of the Assumption which is sadly now a site for high rise condos overlooking Biscayne Bay. I studied psychology at the University of Miami and received a BA. Later I moved to Baltimore and earned a Masters degree at what was called the Evening College at The Johns Hopkins University. I began my teaching career in Baltimore City as a Special Education teacher for four years. Subsequently, I participated in a pilot elementary program teaching Spanish to over 450 pupils at Highlandtown Elementary and Hamilton Elemenatry-Middle for two years. Then I taught Spanish II, III, and IV at Friends School of Baltimore. I stayed home for four years raising my daughter Gabrielle. She is curently a sophomore at Vanderbilt University. Having a passion for languages, I have studied french at the Sorbonne and L'Institut Catholique de Paris during three summers. I've studied Spanish at Towson University, UMBC, and one summer at La Universidad Complutense in Madrid, Spain. I have been at Hereford Middle teaching Spanish since 1996. I consider Hereford to be a sort of second home as I met my husband here, and my step daughter Natalie has also attended this school.
