Greek Gods Project

Greek Gods in Caricature
As we finish the mythology subunit within our Lord of the Rings unit, we will research each of the major Greek gods and some of the minor gods of Ancient Greece. These are important gods to know as they are often alluded to in all types of literature throughout time and genre. You will each be randomly assigned a Greek god. Use the links provided below to accumulate enough research to make a 3 minute presentation on and a caricature of your Greek god. Use the chart provided in class to structure your notes. You must include the following information:
- Name of the god
- Domain (where/what do they rule)
- symbol(s) of the god
- parentage (who were his or her parents?)
- one vingette with which they are primarily associated (find a short story in which they are the main character)

The first three pieces of information MUST be included in your caricature. The rest may be absent from the picture, but MUST be mentioned in your presentation.

Can't draw? Neither can Ms. Spears, but I promise it will be ok. Here's how you will be graded:

A - Caricature and presentation included all necessary information and other interesting tidbits in a concise, interesting fashion. Caricature and presentation are finished products that reflect thoughtful work and an in-depth understanding of the assigned Greek god and of mythology.

B - Caricature and presentation included all necessary information in a concise, interesting fashion. Caricature and presentation are finished products that reflect some work and an understanding of the assigned Greek god and of mythology.

C - Caricature and presentation included some necessary information in a concise or interesting fashion. Caricature and presentation are finished products that reflect some work and a preliminary understanding of the assigned Greek god and of mythology.

D - Caricature and presentation does not include necessary information . Caricature and presentation are unfinished products that do not reflect hard work or an understanding of the assigned Greek god and of mythology.

E - Caricature and presentation are incomplete or missing.

Each link will open into a new window so you don't lose this page.

Good Luck!
